Spring High Performance Conditioning Camps
One Opportunity Give Everything...Be Ready!
Are you ready? When Peter Twist began running off-season camps as the Conditioning coach of the Vancouver Canucks he had a vision of helping more players achieve success. Now, Twist High Performance Hockey Conditioning Camps are the clear front runner for hockey conditioning and player development. Players have many choices for off season training. None offer the intensive coaching, individualized programming, innovative methods and proven success of Twist.
The off season is shorter than you think and the most important phase of any training program, the Foundation, is often the phase which is either left out or minimized due to time pressure within a program or the rush to get athletes to the "sexy" exercises. The Spring High Performance Camp program starts with building a solid hockey foundation of balance, movement and strength, core endurance and stability and progresses through the spring in volume and intensity as we build towards the full summer off season High Performance Camps. Don't worry there are plenty of "sexy" exercises and drills to challenge both physiological and physical limits, but they are coached and progressed purposefully by our team of Twist hockey conditioning specialists. Many coaches are "Twist Certified" but they do not live the Twist culture, in Twist facilities everyday and we don't give away all of our secrets!
September seems a long way away but performance is the residue of careful preparation and there is no better way to prepare for hockey season, than with Twist hockey conditioning. Don't just listen to what we have to say, check out what some of the top players from our Class of 2010 have to say in these player interviews.
Spring High Performance Conditioning Camps
April 4-June 24 (12 Weeks)

The 2011 Spring Hockey Conditioning Camp is constructed into three progressive phases. Phase One begins in early April . Players will focus their initial efforts on developing a foundation of strength and movement. during Phases 1 and 2 while training in 3 - 90 min sessions per week. In phase 3 players will begin more advanced hockey specific training methods to help maximize skating mechanics, speed, quickness, agility, and power while training in 4 - 90 min. sessions per week (Pee Wee players will continue with 3x per week and Atom groups will be 2x per week)). 3 Month High Performance Spring Camp: April 4-June 24 (12 weeks) |
|
Includes: Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 (See below). Total Dryland Sessions=40, + Testing and Functional Assessment. Modified programs offered for Atom and Pee-Wee. This all inclusive package provides the full spring progression and prepares the athletes perfectly for the summer HP Camp. Athletes can register for the full 3 month camp or come is for separate phases depending on spring schedules and specific conditioning needs. Please see below for camp fees. Phase 1: Building the Foundation April 4th-29th (4 weeks): Includes 3 x 90 minute dryland sessions per week, functional testing and assessment. The Foundation phase can be the most important element of off-season training and yet is often the one left out of the equation. The foundation phase identifies the athlete's weak links and re-sets each area of physical focus (strength, stability, mobility, endurance) in preparation for the progression of the training program.
Phase 2 Developing the Linked System May 2-27 (4 weeks): Includes 3 x 90 minute dryland sessions per week. Once the initial foundational strength and stability has been established the Twist coaches will turn the focus to linking the athlete's movement into athletic strength. This phase will also begin to develop the power and speed foundation. |

Phase 3 Hockey Specific Movement May 30-June 24 (4 weeks):
Includes 4 x 90 minute dryland sessions per week. Phase 3 ramps up the volume (from 3-4 x per week) and the intensity of the session as the focus switches to transferring the foundations and progressions of phase 1 and 2 into speed and power as we set up to bridge the program into summer. Speed and power progressions, integrated strength and hockey specific agility and conditioning highlight this phase of training.
