Twist Conditioning and Scary Skate Join forces for U17 High Performance Hockey Development

March 1st-March 27th 2010

Are you Ready for your spring camps and tryouts? The U17 regional tryout camps are slated for April 16-18th and rep tryouts for all age will dominate April. The Twist Sport Conditioning Centre and Scary Skate have joined forces to create a unique High Performance player development opportunity designed to prepare athletes for their upcoming camps and team tryouts and to help you get jump on the competition. This camp will feature a combination of the best on and off ice technical development and hockey specific conditioning available. The camp is open to AAA and AA players from birth year 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996.

On Ice Development with Scary Skate

On ice technical skating development and conditioning will be led by “Scary” Mary Giacalone as she focuses on enhancing each player’s ability to move fast with or without the puck. These Power Skating sessions will work primarily on technique, weight distribution, proper upper and lower body integration, edge work, backward & forward stride development, pivots, turns, crossovers acceleration and resistance training.

Off Ice Conditioning at Twist

Off ice dryland conditioning will be held at the Twist Sport Conditioning Centre in Whitby and coached by the Twist team of hockey conditioning specialists. It will follow the proven Twist hockey conditioning systems with a unique blend of coaching each athlete’s balance, movement skill development (speed, agility, quickness) strength and conditioning. The off ice training will work in conjunction with on-ice development to ensure that the athletes are at their peak physically, mentally and technically as they arrive at their camps and tryouts in April. Twist's Smart Muscle Training paradigm focuses on developing balance, movement, strength and energetics to help build bigger, stronger, faster and SMARTER muscles.

Be Ready!

Find out what many local elite hockey players in the Durham Region like Joel Ward (Nashville Predators-NHL), Marco Rosa (Manitoba Moose-AHL), David Ross (Niagara University NCAA), and Josh Shalla (Saginaw Spirit-OHL) already know, that the combination of training with Twist conditioning coaches off the ice and working with Mary on the ice will ensure that you are ready when your opportunity comes in April.
