Professional Development Days

Twist Conditioning has packaged our recipe for training athletes into a variety of professional development lectures and practical workshops designed to invigorate, refresh, and stimulate teachers and coaches. Each workshop focuses on developing the secondary fitness characteristics of anaerobic energetics, dynamic balance, speed, agility, quickness, movement skills, muscle reactivity, reaction skills, multi joint strength and power, and rotary core strength.

The Twist Sport Conditioning Paradigm is transferable to many populations, including youth and school curriculum, incorporating many of the emerging trends in the fitness and sport industry.

Session Topics:

  1. The Foundation before the Tactics – 1.5 hours (Lecture/Practical)
A theoretical based presentation on building youth athleticism. Topics discussed will include "real life" fitness, foundations to sport-specific preparation, movement skills and athleticism, demands of sport, and prescription of exercise.

  2. Dynamic Warm Up & Purposeful Cool Downs – 1.5 hours
Still stretching your athletes and class prior to working out? You could be setting them up for decreased performance and injury. This theoretical and practical session will lead you through the science and theory behind current day warm up and cool down techniques and exercises.

  3. The Integrated Teachers Toolbox: (Lecture/Practical)
Learn how to put together the ultimate toolbox for Physical Education teachers to train the secondary fitness components of speed, agility, reaction, first step quickness, combative and reactive strength using cutting edge training equipment and everyday physical education equipment in a new and creative way.

  4. Speed Agility Quickness Specific Toolbox – 1.5 hours
A theoretical and practical taste of Speed, Agility and Quickness training. Discussions focus on who should participate, pre-requisites and safety considerations, guidelines, progression and regressions and application principles. A practical session using some of the latest SAQ training tools and drills using no equipment will follow.

  5. Building Sport Conditioning Circuits – 1.5 hours (Lecture/ Practical)
Join the Twist Team as we teach you how to build sport conditioning circuits ideal for the classroom or coaching setting. By integrating many of the latest trends in athlete conditioning; such as, balance, speed, agility, quickness, reactivity, and linked system strength, teachers will learn innovative exercises and formats to help maximize student and athlete participation, while providing a fun and challenging workout.

  6. Functional Testing and Evaluation – 1.5 hours (Lecture/ Practical)
Join the Twist Team of coaches and educators as they take you through Twist testing protocol for evaluating speed, agility, quickness, linked system power, core stability and many other components of functional training. If you have already been incorporating sport conditioning into your physical education classes and team practices, or are planning on incorporating it in the future, this session will provide you with a framework for obtaining baseline standards from which to measure student and athlete improvement.

  7. Specialized Workshops: (Lecture or Practical)
Designed to suit your needs in length, topic, cost, specific sport application, or products used.

"Finally a Pro-D Day that will be totally useful and practical within a school setting. It has been a while since there has been a PE Athletic type session for teachers. I look forward to attending the additional presentations by Twist. Thanks!"

"Being a coach I find this very relevant and useful. Often I attend a workshop (seated) and possibly think about incorporating it – often never do these workshops get me excited – perfect timing as it was a track season. As well as I saw the effects and benefits personally. Thanks it was super!!!!!"

" I enjoyed the hands on nature! Peter has a good sense of humor, lots of stories. Great speaker. Something that will benefit me personally and professionally."

" Awesome- kept us active but incorporated theory as well."

" Two things really stood out for me: 1. Many of the exercises were challenging so athletes will work harder to improve at the task; 2. Most of the skills and exercises could be done in a very small space. This is important for teachers with larger classes and limited facilities."
